Angry Black Woman

Often times, Black Women in particular are stereotypically judged by being loud, aggressive and over assertive.

Many women are not taken seriously and often counted out before even greeted or invited to sit at the table.

May I be your voice for those Black women who felt muted.

𝐀𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐲 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 

I am not an angry black woman.

I am not the stereotype.

Don’t confuse the passion in my voice for hostility or aggression. 

I am not combative nor a threat. 

I just want to be heard not just seen. 

Not just seen for my melanin skin that intimidates you when I walk into a room. 

I want you to feel my every word like  vibration sending sound waves. 

I want my words to resonate and captivate you.

When I speak, it’s with validity, confidence and poise. 

My voice doesn’t shake but may shatter and make a glass break. 

My voice is a safe space. 

I won’t stop using my voice until I rest my case. 

I am not an angry black woman.

I am multifaceted and a powerhouse.

I am nothing as quiet as a field mouse.

My ego is big 

and my mouth is loud.

You can hear my voice echo among a crowd. 

They will never silence me.

For I am not ashamed.

Do not paint this picture of me as a black angry woman. 

I am not what they say I am.

I am passionate and to be complimented.

Respect me as a 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐄𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐖𝐎𝐌𝐀𝐍.
